Threads of Connection
Family, Fashion, and Finding Meaning in September
September in New York City is always electric, pulsing with the energy of back-to-school routines and the creative charge of Fashion Week. This season, though, found me both inspired by the colors and community of the city’s style celebration—and rooted in life’s deeper currents. I am literally sandwiched between the excitement of ushering my oldest daughter through college tours, standing on campuses like Duke and Wake Forest dreaming about her next steps, and the reality of supporting my father as we shift to comfort and care in the face of his terminal cancer diagnosis.
Navigating these dramatic contrasts—new beginnings for my children, and profound endings with my father—has ushered in the rituals and wisdom of my Jewish values. As I move through these days, I am reminded how family, friendship, and creative expression add meaning to both our celebrations and our sorrows. This moment, with all its complexity and beauty, is a testament to the power of connection, community and compassion often unveiled in the strangest of places.

Finding Sanctuary at NYFW Shows
The Libertine Spring/Summer 2026 show was once again a highlight, set against the Elizabeth Street Garden’s lush backdrop, where my friend Johnson Hartig’s vision embraced beauty as necessity and rebellion. With poetry in the air and a love revolution in every embroidered coat, it was a joyful protest—a reminder that embracing life fully is the ultimate act of optimism. The crowd of designers, artists, and friends reflected what fashion at its best truly is: creative expression energized by community and purpose.
Equally driven by community I was enraptured by the collective energy in the room at the launch of GWYN, Gwyneth Paltrow’s newest luxury collection shown in Tribeca—an ode to powerful, elegant, dynamic women. I am really excited to explore this collection.
Thanks to all of those that joined me this week, I truly appreciate and love the connections we form through a shared passion for style and craft.
Holding Space When Feeling Sandwiched
I am acutely aware of being “sandwiched”—caught between college tours and supporting my father during very difficult times . Balancing excitement for my daughter’s future at college and the pressures that come aside it, I am also trying to hold space for my dad and his decision to focus on comfort and care for a terminal illness is requirnig a new kind of presence. To hold space is to allow both joy and grief: celebrating milestones and feeling hope, while also grounding myself in compassion, Jewish wisdom, and the rituals that guide us gently through loss. In these moments, I learned that honoring family, friendship, and creative expression gives deeper meaning to every experience—making it possible to show up fully, whatever life brings. I am taking in nature walks, daily meditation, and many heart-opening asanas to usher in that space. Curious to know what you do to find space to heal?
